Management / Installation FAQs

Does the app require a TV that runs Android TV?

Yes. The app is an evolution of our existing Android mobile app and can only run on Android based TV devices. This includes:

  • Android TV – Commonly found on different brand of TVs
  • Google TV – This is a rebrand of Android TV for the most recent versions (2021 onwards) also found on newer Chromecast devices with remotes
  • FireOS TV – This is Amazon’s TV operating system which is actually a re-skin of Android TV – Commonly found on Fire Stick devices, but also some smart TVs

With this in mind the app cannot be installed on any of the following:

  • General ‘Smart TVs’ – Some smart TVs may have a generic operating system with a few apps such as Youtube, and Netflix. Unless the OS is built on Android then it is not supported
  • Amazon Fire Sticks running VesaOS – The new Firestick ‘Select’ edition which was released in 2025 no longer runs an Android based OS so are not supported.
  • WebOS – LG’s Smart TV operating system – Not on all LG TVs, but ones which are not explicitly marked as Android TV
  • TizenOS – Samsungs’s Smart TV operating system – Not on all Samsung TVs, but ones which are not explicitly marked as Android TV
  • ROKU – Roku boxes, sticks, or TVs are not supported.
  • AppleTV – Apple TV boxes are not supported

Can our internal IT team install our app, and/or the TV Management app ourselves?

Yes. We can provide you with a signed ‘apk’ file of either the latest version of your TV app, or your branded management app to install and update the apps for you.

My accommodation TVs are enrolled in an enterprise device management – Can I install our TV app using this?

Yes. We can provide you with a signed ‘apk’ Android app installer for you to install as an enterprise app, or if your system supports it you can install the latest version from the Google Play Store.

What can our housekeeping teams do to ensure our app is visible, and clear logins from previous guests?

The holidaymaker TV management app can make it easy for your teams to find the correct settings to clear logins from previous guests. It is also very easy for them to ensure that your app is the first item on the Android TV favourites and app lists.

We can also provide you with a branded printable instruction document for your housekeeping teams to help train, and guide them on these processes.

What happens if a guest uninstalls our TV app

If a guest removes your app from the favourites list you can easily add it back again.

If a guest has fully uninstalled your TV app you have various options depending on how your app was installed in the first place:

  • If installed from Google Play – simply install it again from the store
  • If using our Holidaymaker TV Manager app – you can use that to then install it again
  • If installed via your enterprise management system – Assign it to that TV again – it is also worth checking your device policies as well to prevent future guests being able to uninstall the app.

What happens if a guest finds, or uninstalls the Holidaymaker Manager app

There is no damage the app can do if a guest does come across it while ‘exploring’ the settings of the in-accommodation TVs. They would only have access to update the TV app if one is available, or clear the data of streaming apps the same way you can with the app.

If a guest has also chosen to uninstall the Holidaymaker Manager app, then you can manually install it yourself again using this guide.

Using your Android TV App

As a multi-site park is it possible to force the user to only see information for the park they are staying on?

Yes. To enable this feature you will need to visit the settings area and enable staff mode. Navigate to the site settings area and enable the option ‘Force Location’. You can find more information here.

How do I enable staff mode in the settings area?

Navigate to the settings main page and make sure your TV context is on the ‘Settings’ title and click on this 10 times to bring up the staff mode dialog, from here you can enable staff mode. You can find more information here.
