The Holidaymaker TV Manager app can be used to install your TV app, or update it when needed without needing to log the TV into a Google account. It can also be used to clear data on various streaming platforms if those apps are installed, which will then clear the login information if guests have left themselves logged in.

The app is not normally visible on the TVs app list as it is installed without a ‘TV Launcher’ – however can still be loaded and rendered on a TV. This means you can easily find it, but your guests generally wouldn’t even know it is there installed.

Note: Using the Holidaymaker TV App to manage the installation and updating of apps is only one option available. You can also manage manual installation of apps, and clearing of streaming app logins using enterprise device management solutions which may fit your internal procedures better. Information on the four options to installing your TV apps can be found here.

Installing or Updating your TV App

When you load the Holidaymaker Manager app it will talk to our web servers and check to see which TV apps you have available.

The left hand bar of the app will inform you if you have your TV app installed, and if so which version it is. Once the list of available apps has been received it will also inform you if you need to update (eg have an old version.

To install a version of your app you simply need to select it from the list.

1. Select the app version you wish to install or update to.

3. If all goes well, you will then see a dialog like this letting you know that the app has been installed.

4. Click on ‘Done’

Note: If you choose open on this dialog, it will actually load the mobile app version of the app and not the TV Launcher version of it, so will look and feel very different.

Warning: If for some reason the dialog says it was not installed when trying to update, then uninstall the version which is currently on the TV and then try to install again using the manager.

5. The manager app should refresh and now show that you have the latest version installed, if that is the one you chose.

6. A new option will appear for you to load your TV app from the manager if you wish to test it

Clearing Logins / Data from Streaming Apps

Often guests will leave themselves logged into streaming apps on TVs after their visit. You can clear these using the system settings in your Android TV. Our app IS NOT able to clear this data for you, as all apps have a protection around their own data.

However our Manager App gives you, and you staff the ability to quickly load the required settings screen to clear the data, and then when clicking back on the remote you will be in our manager app still to move onto the next one.

The current version of the HM Manager app will detect if you have any of the following installed : Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, Now, Channel4, ITVX, My5, CrunchyRoll, AppleTV, Discovery+, Paramount+, Freeview Play.

Note: These are detected using the Android ‘Package ID’ – there is a chance that your TVs may have a specific version of one of these apps with a different package ID so our manager app may not detect it.
