Direct to Guest Marketing Strategy for Holiday Parks

Direct to Guest (D2G) marketing means using your own channels, the app, screens, website and staff, to look after guests before, during and after their stay.

Most operators stop at the booking. The guest journey is far from over.

Done well, Direct to Guest (D2G) marketing can help turn one-time OTA guests into repeat direct bookers, and keeps you in touch with guests before, during and after their stay. It isn’t about pushing promotions. It’s about owning the relationship and being useful at the moments that matter.

The moment they book is the moment you begin

D2G marketing is lifecycle marketing: pre-stay, in-stay and beyond. It uses your own channels, such as your app, screens, website, chat, email and your team, to engage guests at each stage.

The benefits you’re aiming for:

  • Lower OTA costs
  • Higher in-stay spend
  • More rebookings and fewer third parties
  • Better guest data and loyalty

How to make Direct to Guest work for you

1. Make the pre-arrival window count

The guest experience doesn’t start at check-in. It starts the moment they hit “book now”. Guests are looking for information, planning their break and imagining their stay, which makes this window one of the most valuable in your whole journey.

Use it to share content that builds trust and saves your team admin:

  • Travel information and check-in details
  • Digital welcome packs for each stay
  • Local maps and “things to do” for your venue
  • Content tailored to each guest’s booking and stay type

Get it right and they arrive already feeling like a valued guest, not just another arrival.

2. Make the most of guests who booked elsewhere

Guests who book through platforms like Pitchup or Hoseasons often arrive with little connection to your brand. That is your opportunity.

When guests log in to the app with their booking, you can show them content and offers that suit their stay. You can segment by booking, stay type or behaviour. Give them a reason to deal with you directly while they are still on site, not weeks later when they have moved on.

3. Rebooking is a mid-stay moment

The best time to talk to a happy guest about next year is while they’re still enjoying their break.

Put a clear rebooking offer where guests will see it, in your app or on a screen, before they check out rather than after they have mentally left. A simple line like “Book next year now and save 10%” can turn a good memory into a confirmed booking.

A note on push notifications: for now, push messages from the app are for informational use only, not offers or “book your next stay” nudges. So use the app’s screens and in-app content for rebooking prompts, and keep pushes for helpful updates. See our guide to push notifications for the detail.

4. Use the screens you already have

Your screens aren’t just for welcome messages. Seeview turns lodge TVs, reception screens and kiosks into live messaging tools, so you can show events, offers and direct booking prompts. It works with most modern commercial displays and TVs, including devices like Google TV or Amazon Fire Stick, and you update once and publish everywhere.

No printers. No posters. Just better visibility, where it matters. Retention doesn’t start after checkout. It starts mid-stay, when they’re smiling.

5. Segment, then keep an eye on what works

D2G is only powerful if it’s personal. Use segmentation to show the right content to the right guests, such as something for returning guests or a note for first-timers. Then use your Guest Intelligence dashboards to see what is working, and adjust as you go.

The aim is less generic marketing and more relevant content.

Guests don't remember posters. They remember relevance, timing and ease.

Why D2G works

Guests don’t remember posters. They remember relevance, timing and ease.

D2G doesn’t replace hospitality. It supports it. It helps your team do more with less, keeps your brand visible at the right moments and brings your booking engine closer to the guest. It doesn’t mean more work. It means smarter work, with better timing and less reliance on third parties.
