A day in Devon with the people behind independent hospitality

On Wednesday 25 March 2026 we gathered at Beverley Holidays in Devon for XP Hospitality, a free day for everyone working in hospitality, leisure and visitor experiences in the South West.

Speakers from digital, tech, operations, experience and sector bodies shared practical ideas to take straight back to work, with plenty of time to talk in between. We have written up every session, so you can catch up on anything you missed.

Catch up on the sessions

  • Ali Carmichael, Experience UX: why teams build from the inside out, with three real examples and three questions to challenge assumptions.
  • James Murphy, Chalk & Ward: why bidding on your own brand name wastes budget, with fixes for Google and Meta.
  • Dave McRobbie, Holidaymaker: the persuasion tricks booking sites rely on, from scarcity to social proof, plus an audit for your booking pages.
  • Claire Flower, HARPA Chair: why relationships underpin every successful park, what HARPA offers members, and the concern about the proposed Tourism Levy.
  • Hannah Vischer, Shelter: what homelessness covers under the Housing Act 1996, the scale in England, and how the room raised £315 on the day.
